Telecentric Lenses

 Telecentric Lenses

In many machine-vision systems, such as those used in semiconductor inspection, precise repeatable measurements must be made consistently. To ensure this occurs, system developers must turn to more expensive optical systems based on telecentric lenses with which to image these parts.

Many of the reasons for choosing telecentric lenses emerge from the limitations of more conventional lens systems. For example, should an object move even slightly within the depth of field of a conventional lens system, there will be an associated magnification change. In the past, magnification changes due to object displacement were calibrated by means of an additional camera or a depth sensor tracking the distance between the lens and the object. The use of a telecentric lens can substantially reduce or even eliminate such magnification changes and therefore remove the need for any additional camera and preprocessing of the image data that may otherwise be required to correct for any magnification errors.

Perspective or parallax errors can also be eliminated by the use of telecentric lenses. In conventional telecentric optical system , closer objects appear relatively larger than those further away because the magnification of an object changes with its distance from the lens. However, telecentric lenses optically correct for this parallax error so that objects remain the same perceived size independent of a specific distance from lens.

Telecentric lens design can solve above problems effectively in a specific working distance. Telecentric lens has same magnification which isn't change with DoF after focalization. Telecentric lens can provide superior image quality with low distortion and no parallax, so it can be used in high precise measurement and the detection of the work piece’s defect.

SWIR Lenses

 SWIR Lenses

Shortwave swir infrared wavelength band offers a unique imaging advantages over visible and other thermal bands. So it is quietly earning a growing place in industrial machine vision for quality inspection and in military applications. SWIR lenses are utilized where other detectors or cameras are not sensitive enough for the finite detail recognition. At Hyperion Optics, we have developed a series of SWIR lenses to meet the latest advancement of SWIR technology. Our design is for high-resolution operation at low light level. It also offers a superior image quality, better transmission, and performance. Our SWIR lenses function in the wavelengths of 900nm-1700nm / 700nm-3400nm with the detector size up to 20mm diagonal and pixel size of 15-50μm.

Apart from off-the-shelf SWIR optics, Hyperion Optics offers custom SWIR system design, for glass selection, We offer Schott / OHARA based glass choices and has a wide range of Schott and OHARA molded substrates inventory in various diameter and CT which assist us to greatly lower down your investment on glass materials. further to minimize your investment, we offer actual tested refractive index and dispersion testing on CDGM and NHG material equivalents through 0.7μm to 2.5μm for a better performance optimizing at the lowest price. We also can disclose our internal material refractive index and dispersion test data (with correspondent materials stock) for designers to develop your own SWIR system upon request. Glass witness samples can be provided free of charge for index and dispersion testing on customers'side too.

Please talk to one of our experienced optical designers to know how it works.

For custom SWIR design, we encourage the customer to choose materials from NHG for cost-wise decision if your budgetary is tight. Please contact us for latest NHG glass catalog update, since NHG is keeping releasing new refractive index and dispersion data through VIS to 2500nm periodically.

Our custom SWIR filter prototyping project starts from 2 to 5 sets. For applications such as hyperspectral CCD spectrometer, we also work with customer’s hyp design as a build to print, further to provide assembly and test service. (Including wavefront error, MTF, Transmission etc.)

Surveillance Lenses

Our CCTV lens come in many forms, including fixed focal-manual iris, fixed iris-manual focus, varifocal, motorized zoom lens options, and pinhole lenses. Each surveillance camera lenses  we offer provides unique functionality and is designed for different surveillance applications. Auto-iris lenses are designed for outdoor use, or any applications with variable lighting conditions. Fixed lenses provide fixed focal lengths from super wide angle to telephoto depending on the camera format and intended application. Varifocal lenses are designed to meet a variety of applications, providing the flexibility to adjust between different focal lengths with a single lens for camera.

100m, 500m or even 1km away objects can also be clearly displayed on the monitor. The decisive factor in this issue, in general, is the focal length of the lens, the longer the focal length, "see" the farther away, but at the same time the field of view is smaller, the results narrowed the viewing range.

In order to be able to more clearly detect the target within the scope of monitoring and automatic tracking, the general requirements of the target in the CCD target surface occupies at least three lines of television lines. To be able to distinguish the characters, the general should ask the person's facial imaging in the 356mm (14in) monitor accounted for more than 12.7mm (0.5in).

In practical applications, users often ask the camera to see how far objects or the camera can see how wide the scene and other issues, which in fact should be selected by the focal length of the lens to decide, in addition to the The resolution of the selected camera and the resolution of the monitor.

The focal length of the optical system is the distance from the main point of the optical group to the focal point. And the focal length of the lens is actually a combination of the composition of the focal length of the lens group, which determines the size of the image taken with different focal length of the lens on the same location of the camera, with long focal length camera lens intake of the scene size Large, and vice versa, with a short focal length camera lens intake of the scene size is small.

Projection Lenses

 Projection Lenses

Projection lens and photographic lens is a pair of opposite lenses, the camera lens is used to image the outside world to the CCD or COMS in the digital format, on the other hand the projection lens   to digital format images projected onto the screen.

From the optical design point of view of these two lenses are no different, because the optical path is reversible. However, they still have some differences. First, the photographic lens is generally iris adjustable diaphragm, which control in the photography industry is known as the aperture. Projection lens generally in order to maximize the output illumination, aperture stop is not adjustable.

Second, the projector lens is generally fixed focus lens, even zoom lens projectors, the zoom ratio is generally not greater than 2, consumer digital camera zoom ratio are normally more than 3, only the SLR digital camera with fixed focus Lens or a lens with a zoom ratio less than 3.

Third, the lens of different caliber, projection lens diameter is generally much larger than the camera lens.

At Hyperion Optics we develop projection lenses as following:

Short focus (ultra-short focal length) lens, which is used to project large-screen short-range

Medium focal length lens for normal distance projection

Telephoto (super telephoto) lens, for long-range projection of small screen

In addition to that there is a ball screen lens, it is a single lens shot surface

We can design and produce high performance projection lens, the maximum resolution of up to 4K, projection ratio can reach 0.8: 1, which means that the distance of one meter projection of 60-inch screen.

The following table shows the relationship between the projection ratio and the focal length

Lens Type Super Short Focus Short Focus Mid Focus Telephoto Ultra long focal length

Projection ratio <1.2:1 1.2-2.0:1 2.0-2.6:1 2.6-5.0:1 >5.0:1

Now, with the increasing proportion of widescreen video, deformation projection lens has gradually begun to penetrate into the market. Compared to traditional projection lens + deformation lens, the deformation projection lens structure is more compact, better image quality, lower prices.

We have a wealth of experience in design and optical design manufacturing, and we can make performance / price balance designs based on different chip sizes, resolutions, and projection ratios.
