Multichannel Filter

Multichannel filters differ from conventional bandpass filters by allowing only one continuous band of light to pass through it, allowing two or more bands of light to pass through.

Multi-channel filters can be achieved on a filter to achieve the need for multiple general filter stack to achieve the effect, making the design more compact, and can reduce costs.

This filter in the optical communications, infrared and medical applications have a wide range.

As one of optical component manufacturers, we will do our best to meet all the needs of customers.

Fluorescence Filters

Fluorescence microscopy filters are a class of filters classified by application type.

Fluorescence filter is a fluorescence imaging filter for biomedical and life science instruments, the key components, the main role is in the biomedical fluorescence analysis system for the separation and selection of substances in the excitation and emission fluorescence Of the spectral characteristics of the band. It is usually required that the filter cut-off depth be greater than OD5 (optical density, OD = -lgT). The core requirements for filters used in fluorescence detection systems are high cut-off steepness, high transmittance, high positioning accuracy, high cut-off depth, and excellent environmental stability.

Fluorescent filter is a combination of three, three are excitation filters, emission filters and dichroic filters.

Excitation Filter (Exciter Filter, Excitation Filter, Excitation Filter): In the fluorescence microscope, only the excitation wavelength of the filter can pass through the fluorescence. In the past, a short-pass filter was used, and now a band-pass filter is basically used. The housing is marked with arrows indicating the direction of propagation of the recommended light.

Emission Filter (Emitter Filter, Emitter): Select and transmit the fluorescence emitted by the sample, the other range of light cut-off. The wavelength of the emitted light is longer than the wavelength of the excitation light (closer to red). A band-pass filter or a long-wave-pass filter may be selected as the emission filter. The housing is marked with arrows indicating the direction of propagation of the recommended light.

Dichroic Mirror (Dichromic Beamsplitter, Dichromatic Beamsplitter): also known as dichroic mirrors or dichroic mirrors. And placed at an angle of 45 ° to the optical path of the microscope. This filter reflects one color of light (excitation light) and transmits another color of light (emitted light), the reflectivity of the excitation light is greater than 90% and the transmittance of the emitted light is greater than 90%. The impervious portion of the spectrum is reflected rather than absorbed. Filter in the transmitted light and reflected light color complement each other, and thus also known as dichroic filters.

Our fluorescence filters are designed for fluorescence imaging applications, with durability in mind and high-performance optical specifications in manufacturing. The filter substrate is made of quartz, which can achieve 1/10 lambda surface accuracy, while the thermal expansion coefficient of quartz is relatively small, can obtain higher image quality.

Dichroic optical filters consist of thin film dielectric coatings on glass and exhibit sharp transitions between transmitted and reflected wavelengths. Dichroic filters are similar to traditional interference filters but differentiate themselves by reflecting all unwanted wavelengths. Consequently our dichroic range also offers minimal absorbance characteristics.

Our dichroic mirror filters are available in longpass, shortpass, bandpass, bandblocking and colour correction types over a range of wavelengths. Dichroic shortpass and longpass filters can also act as hot and cold mirrors respectively.

Dichroic filters can divide natural light from a certain wavelength into two parts, one of which passes through, and the other is reflected or absorbed. Filters that allow longer wavelengths of light to pass through are referred to as long wave pass filters, and filters that allow shorter wavelengths of light to pass through are referred to as short wave pass filters.

The desired spectral range can be achieved by using different dichroic lens

Colored Glass Filter

 Colored Glass Filter

Tinted optical filter glass is a performance of the color of the optical filter, which absorbs undesired through the band of the way, to precisely select the range of light waves to pass.

Tinted glass is a lower cost solution than a dielectric filter, and tinted glass can be easily extended over a wide band. It is widely used in laser protection, industrial measurement and environmental measuring instruments.

Bandpass Filter

Bandpass filter design can separate a band of monochromatic light, the ideal transmittance of band-pass filter through the bandwidth is 100%, while the actual band-pass filter pass band is not the ideal square. The actual band-pass filter generally has a center wavelength λ0, a transmittance T0, a half width of the pass band (FWHM, a distance between two positions where the transmittance in the pass band is half the peak transmittance), the cutoff range and other key parameters to describe.

Band-pass filter is divided into narrow-band filter and broadband filter.

In general, a very narrow bandwidth or high cut-off steepness will make the product more difficult to process; meanwhile the pass band transmittance and cut-off depth is also a contradictory indicator

Hyperion Optics’ band-pass filters are composed of a stack of equally spaced dielectric layers. The number of layers and thicknesses are calculated with excellent cut-off depth (typically up to OD5 or higher), better steepness and a high transmittance (70% narrowband, 90% broadband).

Optical Dome

 Optical Dome

Glass domes are widely used for commercial applications which require protective boundary between different environments; domes perform as windows, providing protection to electronic sensors or detectors without sacrificing field of view.

Composed of two parallel optical surfaces, domes have no optical effect on design optical path. In lead element in an optical system, a dome is exposed to the environment, N-BK7 is good choice for visible to near infrared lead applications, which will withstand wind and rain erosion. Typically in single-use defense applications and ocean exploration. Shapes can vary from hemispheric to custom size with coatings.

At Hyperion Optics, we have strict control of wall thickness variation spec by utilizing most reliable deterministic CNC machine tools, we grind and polish optical glass, fused silica and zinc sulfide for applications range from visible to infrared.

N-BK7 and H-K9L domes: N-BK7 optical domes are available directly from stock, and are used primarily in meteorology applications. BK7 offers excellent transmission from 300nm up to 2µm. BK7 is a relatively hard material, with excellent chemical durability. Our custom BK7 domes are practically free from bubbles and inclusions, making them perfect for high performance visible applications.

UV fused silica domes: For applications operating in the deeper UV range, we offer a range of UV fused silica domes. Fused silica domes are commonly used in underwater applications at extremely high pressures. Our Corning 7890 2G and Spectrosil 2000 fused silica both offer over 85% transmission at wavelengths as low as 185nm.

Zinc Sulfide domes: For infrared applications we can provide sapphire domes. Sapphire is an extremely hard material with transmission of over 80% in the 2-5µm wavelength range. As with fused silica, sapphire is able to withstand extreme pressures, making it the perfect material for underwater camera and infrared-guided missile applications.
